Coaching Biography
Gold is currently the Head Football Coach at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Under Gold's leadership the Pioneers have an overall record of 20-10, won the 2008 Southeastern Conference championship, and have had 46 All-Conference players.
On September 2nd, 2008, Jeremy Gold was named defensive line coach for the USA Football Junior National Team – America’s first junior national team in football. Composed of the country’s top incoming college freshmen, Team USA won the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Junior World Championship, televised nationally by Fox College Sports.
The eight-nation, four-continent tournament was played in Canton, Ohio’s historic Fawcett Stadium and attended by more than 40,000 fans. Under Gold’s tutelage, three American defensive linemen earned the tournament’s First- or Second-Team honors. Only once in three games did a U.S. opponent penetrate Team USA’s 20-yard line. Team USA’s defense stifled opponents for a three-game total of -67 rushing yards, outscoring the opposition 174-3.
Prior to leading the Pioneers Gold served as the Defensive Line coach for the University of Northern Iowa Panthers for 2 years. Gold helped lead the Northern Iowa Panthers to the 2005 Division 1-AA National Championship game. Appalachian State 21-16 defeated them. Gold also coached first-team all-Gateway and third-team Associated Press All-American defensive end John Hermann. Hermann recorded 83 total tackles, which included 20½ tackles-for-loss. Hermann also led the Panthers with 13 quarterback sacks in 2005
Gold was the defensive line coach at Grand Valley State University in 2003 and 2004. At GVSU, Gold coached three-time Division II All-American Keyonta Marshall. The Philadelphia Eagles in the 2005 NFL Draft selected Marshall was selected. In addition, Gold coached four All-Conference performers while at GVSU.
Gold captured a Division II national title in 2003 when Grand Valley State University scored a 10-3 win over the University of North Dakota.
He served in the same capacity at Wayne State University in 2002. While at Wayne State University, Gold coached 2nd Team All-Conference performer and GLIAC Conference Freshmen of the Year runner-up Leo Wells. From 2000-01, he was a graduate assistant at Eastern Michigan University assisting the offensive line. In the spring of 1999, Gold served as a student assistant at Central Michigan University. That summer Gold worked as an assistant strength and conditioning coach to Mike Gittleson at the University of Michigan.
Gold played linebacker at Central Michigan for four years alongside his twin brother, Jason, who is currently a police officer in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His brother, Ian, is a retired NFL linebacker (played 7 years with the Denver Broncos and 1 year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers). His youngest brother, Cory, graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from DePaul University in Chicago, IL.
